LIU SOCCER TEAM BRINGS COMEDY TO RONALD McDONALD HOUSE
Alpine, NJ – February 18, 2011 – The Long Island University Men’s Soccer team has volunteered to perform a comedy trivia show at Ronald McDonald House of New York on March 5, 2011. The live performance is sponsored by Come Laugh, a non profit organization that produces community comedy programs. Members of the LIU Blackbirds, led by Coach T.J. Kostecky and Assistant Coach Rhett Goldsmith, will bring an evening of laughter to the children and families staying at Ronald McDonald House.
Maggie Hess, founder of Come Laugh, has been producing interactive comedy shows at Ronald McDonald House since 2005. “The…story for us is being part of the Ronald McDonald House spirit and bringing ‘LOL’ – Lots of Love and Lots of Laughter to the children,” said Hess. The March 5 event features “A Fun Evening of Soccer,” wherein the children of Ronald McDonald House will be paired against the LIU Men’s Soccer Team in a soccer-themed trivia game.
Ronald McDonald House provides low-cost, temporary housing in a supportive environment for pediatric cancer patients and their families during treatment. Many of these families have traveled far from home to reach the best possible medical care, usually in large cities where traditional lodging may not be affordable. Ronald McDonald House of New York is located in Manhattan, near 12 major cancer-treatment facilities, and is the largest such facility in the world.
